School Board Direction to Return all Students
to Five Days/week on October 12

During Tuesday night’s Board Meeting, the School Board directed the staff to transition from the current hybrid schedule to all our students being in-seat 5 days/week on Monday, October 12th.

As a result, the following changes/requests are being made:

  1. Students in the Home Study program are asked to remain in the program through December and, if possible, through the end of the school year.
  2. Parents are asked to strictly adhere to the guidelines of remaining in/with their car when dropping off and picking up their students (not walking up to the fence/gate). For pickup, parents are welcome to stand outside their car and wave to their student if their student doesn’t see them.
  3. Any parent on campus is required to wear a face covering while visiting the office or who is scheduled to volunteer in their child’s classroom.
  4. K-3 students will continue to be dismissed at 2:00 pm and 4-8 students dismissed at 2:30 during regular school days.
  5. All Wednesday’s will be a minimum day with students released as follows:
    1. K-3 students released at 12:25.
    2. 4-8 students released at 12:35.
  6. All other minimum days are cancelled except for the following: October 26-30, June 3.
  7. Students in grades TK-2 continue to be strongly encouraged to wear face coverings at all times. Students in grades 3-8 must wear face coverings at all times.
    1. Exceptions are made for eating, recess, and physical education.
  8. Parents are strongly encouraged to conduct wellness and temperature checks each morning prior to a student returning to school. Any student with COVID symptoms or a temperature must remain home. If a student has a temperature or COVID symptoms, parents are encouraged to take their student to their family doctor and provide a doctor’s clearance note and/or a COVID-19 test result as soon as possible. Otherwise, parents are asked to consult with the school office in determining the student’s return plan once the student is fever/symptom free.
  9. Daycare enrollment is limited to 20 students/day. Parents who have not utilized daycare but would like to, are asked to contact the office to get on a wait list. Based on this list, the school may be able to add staff and accommodate additional students.
  10. Additional daycare spaces may be available during the Wednesday minimum days. Parents will need to contact the office for more information.
  11. Students will continue to be in cohort groups in order to minimize the number of students having to be quarantined due to a student or staff member testing positive or being exposed to COVID-19.

We are excited about students returning. It will be vitally important that parents work with the school on the above expectations/changes and the requirements of our School Reopening Plan (available on our website) so we can continue to have students here 5 days a week. As with all plans during this time, plans can change based on requirements from the State and County Health Department or as we address programmatic needs.
