Any Update on returning to school? As long as the Governor’s Executive Order remains in place, schools across Shasta County are committed to finishing the year with distance learning. Significant time will be spent in developing a plan that will meet the Shasta County Phase 2 guidelines in preparation for instruction in the fall.

What will the 2020/2021 school year look like for NCC? We anticipate school will open, in some manner, on Wednesday, August 12. We are working with Shasta County Office of Education to develop a “roadmap” for starting school back up. This includes developing plans for protecting vulnerable groups and continuing some form of social distancing. We would like to know your priorities regarding what school would look like during the upcoming school year. Click the link below to access a survey.

Eighth graduation: Do to the limitations on large group meetings, we will not have a large group graduation for our 8th graders. Instead, we will be inviting each 8th grader, and their family, to come to school during a specific time on Wednesday, June 3rd (between 5:30 and 7:00). In addition to returning their school materials, students will receive their diploma in a ceremony-type fashion and have a formal graduation photo taken. Each 8th grade student will also receive a VISA gift card from the class funds raised over the years.

Where can I find the most up-to-date information? We continue to update our website as information comes available. (northcowcreek.org)

Beaver Bash Postponed: The EdFoundation Beaver Bash event has been postponed until next year.

An update on grading: Our staff have been collecting student work and the end-of-year reports cards will reflect CREDIT/NO CREDIT for reading and math. To receive CREDIT, students must complete at least 60% of the work assigned during the 3rd trimester. A special end-of-year report card will be mailed out to students at the end of the year.  For students in grades 4-8, any student with 90% or more work turned in will be considered on Honor Roll.

How much longer will distance learning assignments be given to students:  Teachers will be providing assignments this week (May 11) and during the week of May 18. The week of May 26th is set aside for students to complete any missing work. All work will need to be turned in via the blue tubs out front by Sunday evening, May 31st.

When can students return school materials/chromebooks and collect their items from their desk? Students may come to school during the following times to return and pick up materials.

Monday, June 1: 7:00am-12:00pm
Tuesday, June 2: 7:00am—12:00pm
Wednesday, June 3: 7:00am-5:30pm

Thursday, June 4: 7:00am-7:00pm

When will yearbooks be available: We are hopeful yearbooks will be here and available for pickup by students during the schedule listed above. We are being told shipping may be delayed and will keep parents informed

Parents of students in grades 4-8 have access to the Aeries Parent Portal. The portal displays students grades and attendance. To access the portal, click the PARENT PORTAL icon to the right. Enter the parent email address on file at school followed by your password. If you have forgotten the password, click the FORGOT PASSWORD link. If you are still unable to access the portal, call the office to verify your email address.
