Welcome to North Cow Creek School

New Year Update (8/10/20)

Parents can find their child's schedule assignment (Group A or Group B) by clicking HERE or selecting SCHOOL INFO above and then STUDENT AB ASSIGNMENT.

Please review the handbook addendum found HERE for specifics on the school schedule, expectations for drop off/pick up, and day care options. Please note that all students (TK-8), according to the Health Department guidance, must wear face coverings from their car to the classroom. Students in 3rd - 8th must wear their face coverings at all times except during recesses, lunch, and PE. More information is listed in the addendum.

First Week of School

The first week of school will be different. Wednesday, August 12, students in Group A will attend. Group B will attend on Thursday, August 13. Students will not attend on Friday, August 14.

Following Weeks

For the following weeks, students in Group A will attend on Mondays and Thursdays. Students in Group B will attend on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Wednesdays will be designated as Flex Days. The definition of those will vary from supporting struggling students to allowing our teachers time to adjust curriculum.

The School Board has made it clear they want to continually evaluate this hybrid program, monitor the transmission of COVID-19, and passage of any legislation that reduces the school’s liability in order to determine if we can bring all students back to an in-seat program or are required to move to full distance learning. This information will be reviewed at each Board meeting or during a specially called Board meeting should there be any changes.

Additional information will be sent home Monday afternoon. Along with each student’s assigned group, parents will receive procedures for drop off, pick up, and safety measures related to COVID-19.

We will be watching for legislation to be passed that would limit our liability. We encourage our parents to reach out to their state legislative representatives and the governor with their opinion on this topic. You can use the weblink below to find representative contact information.

There are two key documents that are being worked on: A REOPENING PLAN and a LOCAL CONTROL CONTINUITY LEARNING PLAN (LCCLP). You can click on the REOPENING PLAN to review the draft and the LCCLP will be available shortly. While much of the information in the Reopening Plan is required by the State, we welcome and appreciate the feedback of our parents on these documents. Parents may use the PARENT FEEDBACK form to provide this feedback and are welcome to call the office if they have questions.

One area that has drawn a lot of questions is the use of face coverings at the school. Our staff want to make sure they can work with all students in a manner that is personable, encouraging, and supportive. They understand that face coverings may be challenging for students and an area of contention for many parents. However, they are asking that all students, at all grade levels, wear these coverings so they can work more effectively with students and provide more direct instruction. To this end, staff are also providing colored neck gaiters for each student that, hopefully, will be easier to wear and manage for each student. They would not be worn on the playground or during PE. Staff are asking for your support in this request and allowing teachers to feel more comfortable working closely with each student.

Please know we continue to develop and modify plans as requirements change and based on the feedback from our parents. As mentioned above, parents are invited to submit their comments on the PARENT FEEDBACK FORM or call the office. We hope your family has a wonderful summer and look forward to your involvement in the upcoming school year.

Parents of students in grades 4-8 have access to the Aeries Parent Portal. The portal displays students grades and attendance. To access the portal, click the PARENT PORTAL icon to the right. Enter the parent email address on file at school followed by your password. If you have forgotten the password, click the FORGOT PASSWORD link. If you are still unable to access the portal, call the office to verify your email address.
