NCCS Beaver Weekly Update

Leader In Me

This week we learned to describe the connection between empathy and understanding others. We also practiced using empathic responses to others. Invite your learner to teach you about empathy and how to use empathic responses.

Athletics

The 4/5 girls and boys basketball season ends this week with the end-of-year tournament. All three teams will get a chance to show how well they work as a team. Thanks for a great season. Please don't forget: 4/5 basketball pictures are scheduled for 3:00 on Thursday.

Lunch on the Lawn

Families are invited to bring lunch and eat with their families next Friday. The weather is forecasted for rain Monday-Thursday with clear skies on Friday. Therefore, we will host Lunch On-the-Lawn regardless of the weather. In the case the field is too wet, we will have lunch on the Blacktop, gym, or classrooms. The show will go on.  Please note your Chick-fil-A pre-orders are due on Monday.

Student-Led Conferences

Our spring student-led conferences are scheduled for March 31-April 2. These will be minimum days. Teachers will be reaching out to schedule your conference time.

Lighthouse Evaluation

Next Friday is our official assessment date. Two Leader in Me evaluators will be on campus to assess how we are doing as a Leader in Me School. If all goes well, they will designate us as an official Lighthouse School. Thanks for being a part of our journey.

Reading Steps Wildly Important Goal

We held our schoolwide reading step WIG celebration today in honor of being on pace to accomplish our end-of-the-year goal. North Cow Creek has identified our schoolwide academic goal to read 100,000 reading steps during this school year. Every 15 minutes of reading by students or staff is equal to one step. To date, we have read 83,913 steps. Today, students had a whole student body extra recess with treats included. If we achieve our goal, North Cow Creek will have read over 1,000,000 minutes by the end of the school year.

School Improvement Survey

If you have not already done so, please complete our parent survey. As a Leader in Me school, we teach 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and create a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. Please fill out one survey per family. If you have more than one child attending the school, you will be asked to think about the oldest child's experiences as you answer questions related to his or her growth. Please complete the survey by April 3, 2026.
